Antisana
Climbing Antisana:

Day 1: Quito – Antisana Basecamp
In the morning you leave Quito 4x4 vehicle towards the eastern Cordillera to the little town of Pintag. From here you follow a country road through the Andean highland to the Lagoon Santa Lucia where you will set up your camp at the western flank at ca. 4300m altitude. The lagoon lies in the wide valley between the Antisana and the smaller mountain Antinasilla in its West. In the afternoon you will do a hike in the area – look out for the Condor as these huge birds can be spotted here frequently – before you prepare your gear for the climb and rest after an early dinner. -/L/D

Day 2: Antisana climb - Quito
At about midnight you have a little breakfast and prepare for the climb. According to the conditions you take the “old” route towards the saddle between South and central (highest) peak and from here climb the central peak or the “new” more direct route from the base camp up the steep slopes to the central peak. On a clear day you have spectacular views on the surrounding Andes and down to the Amazon rainforest in the east from the summit. The climb to the summit takes usually about 7-8 hours, descending back to the camp another 3-4 hours. Here you will have a short rest period before you break camp and drive back to Quito.

B= breakfast; L= Lunch; D= Dinner

Note: The itinerary of the adventure tour can be changed by the guide due to security reasons (climate, conditions etc) as well as by the national park administration due to changing national park rules. Nevertheless the security and the interest of the participants will always have first priority.
