Day 1: Quito – Cayambe
In the morning we pick you up at your hotel in Quito and drive on the Panamerican highway to the North, until we reach the town of Cayambe. From here you follow a cobbled stone road passing the Hacienda Piemonte to the Berge Oleas Ruales refuge at 4.650m altitude. In the afternoon you will go for a walk with your guide to discover the best route as well as to acclimatize to the altitude. If you are lucky, you will see some condors gliding with elegance in the sky. After your return to the hut for dinner you will go to sleep early. -/L/D

Day 2: Cayambe climb - Quito
You will get up at midnight to get ready for the climb. From the hut you climb a little rocky hill near the hut from where you reach the glacier at ca. 4800m. Then you climb up the glacier to the north towards the west ridge which you will follow to the east up to the summit. At the upper part crevasses may make some turns necessary before you can stand on the peak. If the weather conditions are good, you will reach the peak in ca. 6-7 hours. The breathtaking glaciers lay exactly on the equator, which is unique in the world. You will also remember the superb view for your lifetime. Even the return (about 4 hours) over snowfields to the hut will be an experience. In the afternoon your tour will end back in Quito. B/L/-

Note: The itinerary of the adventure tour can be changed by the guide due to security reasons (climate, conditions etc) as well as by the national park administration due to changing national park rules. Nevertheless the security and the interest of the participants will always have first priority.
