The Refugio de vida Silvestre Pasochoa (formerly known as Bosque Protector Pasochoa). 45 minutes southeast by car from Quito, is private park set in mountain forest, run by Fundacion Natura. The Reserve is classified as humid Andean forest, but much of the fauna has been frightened away by the noise of visitors. This is nonetheless a good place for a family picnic or an acclimatization hike close to Quito.
