The Sincholagua is an extinct volcano located ca. 17km northeast of Cotopaxi volcano. It has been climbed the first time 1880 by Edward Whymper and the Carrel brothers. Though there is no permanent glacier it is not very often climbed due to the long hike that is necessary to access it. The first day you hike from the Cotopaxi national park to the base of Sincholagua to set up your camp and take advantage of the cold morning the next day to ascent the summit. |
