Galapagos Islands Tour 4 days
Day 01 Monday: Galapagos - San Cristobal Island
From the national airport in Quito or Guayaquil you fly to the Galapagos island San Cristobal. You will go immediately to the Galapagos immigration area. Here you will need to present your passport and pay your USD 100,- Galapagos National Park fee. This payment must be made in cash. The National Park Service does not accept Traveller’s Cheques or credit cards. The Park officials will then inspect your carry-on luggage to ensure that you have not inadvertently brought in prohibited plant or animal products (see the Galapagos National Park rules). The formalities over with, your guide will welcome you and accompany you to your hotel, located directly on the romantic port basin of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Afterwards you will visit the San Cristobal Interpretation Center, located in a natural setting, where visitors can obtain information that will help them understand more about the natural history of the Galápagos, with a great emphasis on human history and conservation. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to swim and snorkel on the northern side of the bay where a perfect spot for these activities is located. You will have dinner and spend the night in the Hotel. -/L/D
Day 2 Saturday: Hacienda El Cafetal – Galapaguera – Puerto Chino
In the morning you will visit the coffee plantation El Cafetal where you will learn how coffee is produced, from the plant to the cup, and of course, this is followed by a timely mid-morning sample.
Afterwards you will continue to the Galapaguera, a project to introduce the local endemic Giant Tortoise back into the wild. Here you can observe these giants and get to know the typical flora of the island during your walk through this little reserve. After lunch you will go swimming at the white beach of Puerto Chino. Among the birdlife on the island, you will see Darwin’s Finches, the Yellow Warbler and Frigate Birds. You will have dinner and spend the night in the hotel. B/L/D
Day 3 Sunday: Kayak tour through the bay – sea lions at the “loberia”
In the morning you will loosen some muscles with an easy kayak tour through the harbour. Following the coastline you will pass along white beaches and high cliffs before you have the chance to do some snorkelling in Darwin Bay whilst frigate birds swoop in the sky above you. After lunch you will walk from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno through the typical dry forest of the area to the beach “la Loberia” where you can observe sea iguanas basking and swim with the local sea lion colony. You will have dinner and spend the night in the hotel. B/L/D
Day 04 Monday: Tijeretas - Transfer Out B/-/-
In the morning you will go the Tijeretas (Frigate Bird Hill). Once there, you are treated to a spectacular view of the white beaches on one side and the roofs of Puerto Baquerizo on the other. The hill is inhabited by frigate birds, both the Magnificent and the Great, both in the same colony. It’s an ideal spot to compare their differences and learn to distinguish them.
